Mazda CX-5 Test Drive

Autocar UK has tested the new Mazda CUV, the CX-5 ahead of its official launching. Presumably a pre-production model, the variant tested is the 2.0l gasoline mated to 6 speed manual driven the front wheel.
The CX-5 is generally keen handler, with flowing and precise response. Excellent packaging results in best-in-class interior space, particularly rear seat space. Apart from some wind flutter at the wing mirror and some distant tyre hum, the new CUV is quite hushed inside.

The all-alloy Skyactiv powertrain produced 162bhp and 210Nm which is not bad for 2.0 gasoline engine. The compression ratio is 14.0, which is world-highest for gasoline engine. Fuel economy is estimated to be around 48mpg. Read more about Mazda Skyactive engine here.
