Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet revealed

The Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet has been revealed ahead of its Detroit Motorshow launching in January 2012. Came is Carrera and Carrera S guise as per the Coupe version. The Carrera Cabriolet is powered by 3.6l flat-6 with direct-injection producing 350bhp, while the Carrera S Cabriolet is powered by 3.8l lump, capable of thrusting 400bhp. Transmission choice is either 7 speed manual or 7 speed PDK.


Smooth roof profile with new innovative & patented design
The new Carrera Cabriolet posses an innovative folding roof system which feature a fabric with magnesium folding structure to give the roof a well-integrated profile in closed configuration. Glass rear screen is glued directly to the outer fabric skin. All these give the folding roof a taut profile and high buffeting resistance. The operation of closing and opening of the roof can be done in staggering 11 seconds, and at a speed of up to 37mph. The technology is patented by Porsche and will be used in the next generation Boxster too. 

The Carrera Cabriolet is due to be on sale starting from March 2012. More photos after the jump.
