TRD has released a new set of kits for the Toyota 86 for October. However instead of giving it 100bhp increased in power or a leach-like-grip for suspension, they have given it a new, more extreme bodykit. The new kit consists of canard, front fender fin, wheelarch extension, rear side spoiler, quick shift, TRD label and engine oil. Gallery of the parts after the jump.

Toyota 86 - Malaysian photo gallery
Enough of dwelling of the specs of the Toyota Hachiroku, enough of technical low-down on 475mm c.o.g height, and if you want to know the price, it is good quarter of a million ringgit in Malaysia. So for now, just keep staring at these beauty. For technical details, refer to our previous posting HERE, THERE, OVERHERE & OVERTHERE

In June - Toyota 86, yours for RM133.34 (T&C applies)
Interested yet? Want to know the Terms and Condition (T&C)? Well, you can have it, as long as you have to assemble it yourselves, and you'll need to persuade Doraemon to lend you the "terowong mengecil" to 1/24th of your original height. Yes guys, it is a Tamiya newly launched product in Japan, priced at 3,360yen. For your information, 3,360 yen is no big deal as it is equivalent to a few magazines price only, refer HERE.
Tamiya has launched both of the Japanese drifting twin, the 86 and Subaru BRZ. While the Toyota version will be on the shelf in June, the Subaru equivalent will be available a month later. Measuring 177mm in length, both car differs only slightly. Just like their real world car.
For those unfamiliar with Tamiya cars, you'll need to cut the component yourselves, glue them together, paint it and finish them to perfection. I once got the Nissan Fairlady Nismo, bought by my wife during her Japan's business trip, I took six intermittent month to complete it!

Toyota 86 gains more firepower - 320bhp & 420Nm
If you think the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ is a bit lacking in intimidating power, Gazoo Racing might have the answer for you. The FA20 lump has been fettled with two form of forced induction, namely both supercharger and turbocharger. The combination would be good to deliver low end punch as well as top rev power. In current state of tuning, the powertrain delivers 320bhp and 421Nm, channelling the drive only via the 6 speed manual transmission. Officially dubbed as a concept, but the kit could filter out as an aftermarket add-on at some stage. The powertrain output is healthy upgrade from the standard unit 197bhp/205Nm punch.
Apart from the increased in the power stake, Gazoo Racing also has recalibrated the chassis setup in the form of revised suspension tuning, upgraded braking systems and wider tyre combination of 245/40 R18 for the front and 265/35 R18 at the back (upped from 215/40 R18 and 225/40 R18 in standard car).
Aesthetically, the exterior has been garnished with more muscular front bumper that comes with bigger intakes and wider too, that goes with wide-body side panelling that include new fender, more protruding sills and wider rear arches. Rear spoiler and new rear bumper complete the exterior makeover.
The cosy cabin has been made more intimate when some of precious space is now shared with the roll cage. Four point harness is also part of the package, as well as the bucket seats which are the sole seat in the cabin as the rear set was deemed unfocused. The interior trimmings are different, with more striking combination of black leather with red stitching, painted plastic panel and bare steering wheel.
The car is called Sport FR Concept. It is currently being showcased at the Le Mans 24 Hours race where Toyota fielded four Toyota 86 and one Lexus LFA. Some more photos of Toyota 86 Sport FR Concept can be found after the jump.

Toyota 86 RWD coupe coming to Malaysia
Seems that UMW Toyota is busy fulfilling the needs of niche clientèle these days. While busy capitalizing on the tax-free hybrids, they are bringing in the legendary successor to the Toyota Hachiroku to our shore. Both 6 speed manual and 6 speed automatic version will be offered here. The indicative price quoted are RM243,000 for the manual version, and RM249,000 for the automatic version.
UMW Toyota has published the indicative specification for the forthcoming 86 in their site, and by examining it seems that we are getting near-the-top-line GT version, which comes with the LSD. For a full description between the variants of the Toyota 86, please refer to MMN previous coverage HERE.
If you somehow managed to forget the specification the Toyota drifter, it is powered by Subaru-sourced 2.0l flat-4 engine whereby Toyota has added their own D-4S system where the cylinder head are designed to feature both direct injection and port injection for the in cylinder combustion. The combustion cylinder is perfect square 86 by 86mm. It has a high 12.5:1 compression ratio, increasing power and torque across a wide range of engine speeds without sacrificing fuel efficiency and environmental performance. The headline figure is 197bhp@6000 rpm and 205Nm@6600rpm. Drive is channeled to the rear wheel via either short-throw 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic transmission with paddle shift. More after the jump.

Toyota 86 RC Spec - not your typical entry level!
Toyota has officially released the Hachiroku to its domestic market, and as usual for JDM car, there are a dizzying array of option and trim level to choose for. The version that caught eyes at Malaysia Motoring News is this, the cheapest version you can buy, and it is called the RC. With price that starts at 1.99 million yen, this is 420,000 yen cheaper than the next version in the line-up.
However, make no mistake that this is NOT stripped and left the factory with its bumper unpainted and comes with steel wheel simply for cost cutting ala Perodua Viva BX, but this version is offered as an alternative for ready-to-be-modified version for daily or track use. Those non-essential cosmetics were left unadorned as they are meant to be replaced according to the owner preference.
The RC spec comes only with the 6 speed manual option. The engine however is untouched, i.e maintaining the use of FA20 1,998cc engine D-4S engine that features both port and direct injection. For a recap, the engine kicks out 200PS@7000rpm and 205Nm@6,400-6,600rpm. The RC Spec also retained the rest of chassis and brakes setup.
As depicted by the photo above, the 86 RC comes stripped-down with its unique unpainted front and rear bumpers as well door outside handle and door mirror, 205/55 R16 tyres on steel wheels, deleted LSD, unadorned exhaust tip, complete deletion of underfloor and intake manifold cover, halogen headlamp with manual leveling (instead of HID and LED with auto level), Urethane gearknob and steering wheel and as be seen above, the instrument panel comes with no fascia cover. Aircon is deleted too, however the heater sticks in. Other interior paddings and NVH sheets are naturally removed too, as they are so-unrace car like! The result is some 60kg weight savings at 1,190kg compared with other feature-laden variants. Interestingly, due to weight-shedding activity, the RC Spec consumed less fuel than all other variants too, at 13.4 km/L compared to 12.4 km/L. For full detail on Toyota 86 spesification (dimension and engine data), please refer MMN previous coverage HERE. More details after the jump.

Subaru BRZ close-up - the Hachiroku twin
The car that we thought to be a close sibling of the Toyota 86 turn out to be, well, a twin instead of a cousin. The difference apart from different bumpers, is negligible. Even the squared-off rear lights from the LA motorshow concept also did not make it to the final production.
The front end of the Subaru BRZ is differentiated from Toyota 86 by the shape of the front bumper. Where the 86 bumper was characterized by large air intake with scorpion-inspired outlines, the BRZ front bumper is more boxier in appearance, consistent with current Subaru design language on the new Impreza et al. The triangulated fog lamp housing of the 86 is replaced with a squared-off housing. The fender garnish is different from the Toyota 86 with more visible black element with centre bar.
The rear end appeared similar too. The squared off tail lamp of the concept car has been replaced by the Toyota 86 exact item. Even the trunk lind/license plate garnish is carried over too. While this car is far from looking dowdy, but some Subaru-ism would be much welcome. More after the jump.

Toyota 86 revealed ahead of Tokyo Motorshow
The eagerly waited Toyota 'Hachiroku' has been revealed ahead of the Tokyo Motorshow next week. The front-engined, rear drive sportscar is named differently between the Japan and European market. In Japan, it will simply be called Toyota 86, while in the Europe it will be named Toyota GT 86. The GT moniker denotes the inspiration in developing the 'Hachiroku', starting from the Toyota S800, a boxer two-cylinder with FR layout from 1962. The line continues with the 2000GT in 1965 which features svelte looking body styles and powered by 2.0l straight-6 developed in collaboration with Yamaha. The Celica generation arrived in 1971 and then Toyota Supra is also the main actor in Toyota sports car play house where all its four generation is FR-layout and powered by straight-6 engine. The real descendant to the 'Hachiroku' however, is the Toyota Levin or Corolla GT AE86. The new Toyota 86 lives in the same principle of front-engine, rear-wheel drive package, compact dimensions, light weight, impeccable balance and superior power-to-weight ratio to deliver a superior sheer excitement and capturing the fundamental joy of driving.
Toyota 86 measures 4,240mm long, 1,285mm high and 2,570mm wide, and rides on 2,570mm wheelbase. Both the powertrain and the driving position have been set as low and as far back as possible to achieve the best balance: the car has a near-perfect 53:47 front-to-rear weight distribution. The flat-four engine format and the driver's hip point – the lowest of any current Toyota production model – together give the 86 an ultra-low centre of gravity, at just 475mm height.
The GT 86 makes the most of a light kerb weight, making it easy for drivers to exploit its nimble handling and cornering poise. The suspension features MacPherson struts at the front and double wishbones at the rear. The car rides on 18" wheels (17" on European model) and is fitted with ventilated disc brakes all around.
The car is powered by Subaru-sourced 2.0l flat-4 engine whereby Toyota has added their own D-4S system where the cylinder head are designed to feature both direct injection and port injection for the in cylinder combustion.
The exterior styling of the Toyota 86 was previewed by the Toyota FT86 iteration 2, where it has eschewed the original concept car svelte futuristic lines. The changes were outlined as the results of driving development where the car body configuration does play a big role in driving experience. It features an evocative and expressive lines, especially in expressing the lower part of the car with huge grille. The lower grille's "scorpion" look gives the 86 a more powerful appearance.
Inside the cabin, every control surface has been arranged to make the driving experience natural, instinctive and rewarding. The 365mm steering wheel diameter is the smallest steering ever fitted to the any car bearing Toyota nameplate. The meter binnacle is 3-item type with large rev-counter dominating the centre item. Elsewhere in the cabin, the 2+2 gets an all-black headlining, aviation-style rocker switches and lightweight, aluminium pedals. The JDM car features red interior detailing too. More detail and galleries after the jump.
