Proton Persona R (P3-21A) has been spotted again. Quite a while back the car was seen in convoy with Vauxhall Astra. These new shots are from the back. There's no new knowledge actually about the final design. The rear end is still heavily camouflaged. Even the rear lamp seems temporary. The cladding at the back is also thick, heavily disguising the shape of the boot.
The silhouete is reminiscent of Mazda 3 with its short stubby tail. According to an insiders, it does indeed "iras-iras" Mazda 3 outline. Furthermore, if you look at Proton Inspira rear bumper, the bumper garnish (black thing bottom of the bumper, where the reflector is attached), as well as the rear bumper of Exora Turbo spyshot, again the rear bumper garnish seems so close to Mazda 3 1.6 garnish. Maybe this time around Proton stylist team are Mazda fans?Another rumours that has been talked on funtastickodesign blog is that there could be two version of Persona R, notchback and hatchback. What I heard is that while the notchback (sedan) is being done with Magna group, the hatchback is being done with another,more familiar (old-flames) consultant. Possibly replacing Gen 2?
All in all, hopefully its a product worth waiting for....
