Ford Mondeo and S-Max EcoBoost

Ford Mondeo facelift was launched yesterday with a host of upgrade including the new EcoBoost engine. The MPV Ford S-MAX was launched too, featuring similar engine.

EcoBoost engine is new engine family within Ford, as part of their downsizing activity. EcoBoost engine is designed to produced comparable power and torque equivalent to higher capacity naturally-aspirated engine through the use of turbocharging and direct injection. It is available from 1.6l to 3.5l, i-4 and v-6 configuration.

The version introduced to Malaysian market Mondeo and S-MAX is the 2.0l variant. It makes 203PS (240 PS version is available overseas) and 300Nm of torque, flat from 1750 rpm to 4500 rpm.

The Mondeo comes in Titanium specification. Upgrades from outgoing version include new hood, front bumper, grille, trunk lid and LED rear combi. LED DRL  and side vent are added too. The car sits on 215/45 R17 tyre and rim combo.


The car gets 7 airbags, along with TCS, ESP, ABS with EBD as well as launch assist. Pricing is yet to be confirmed, however, it is estimated to be between RM180k - 185k.

S-MAX is the MPV that Ford launched sometimes in 2006, but only now make it to our shore. The main USP of this MPV is Fold Flat System, which allow 2nd and 3rd row seats to be seamlessly flat for maximum storage.



S-MAX is estimated to cost less than RM188k. Final pricing for both cars are to be confirmed closer to August.
